I am a World History Teacher from Alden, a small town in central Iowa. I currently teach at a rural high school of about 430 students (Iowa Falls-Alden High School). I have been teaching and coaching for twenty years. For the past two years, our school has been working on the AIW program or Authentic Intellectual Work. This professional development program is designed to increase critical thinking and problem solving skills. My first thoughts, after attending the first meetings about AIW, was how my simulations did exactly what we were trying to create with Authentic Intellectual Work. I am married to a very supportive wife and we have three children: 2 boys 13 and 5 and 1 girl 3 years old. Needless to say, our house is very exciting. Facts About Me: 1. Stephen Henderson (Collaborator on Elementary Simulations) 5th Grade Teacher Pella Christian Grade School Des Moines Area Community College Adjunct Professor of History * MA in American History through American Public University. * BA-Trinity Christian College - Major: History, Minor: Secondary Education, Special Education. * Certified to teach K-5 all subject areas, 6-12 social sciences in the state of Iowa as of 2010. I currently am a fifth grade teacher at Pella Christian Grade School in Pella, Iowa. I have been teaching for five years in an elementary setting. I also am a adjunct professor of American History at Des Moines Area Community College where I teach a variety of different courses.
